Trinket Trays

I had an idea for a super cute tray shaped like a cat face. This proved to be more challenging than I anticipated, though. I couldn't get the triangular ear pieces to sit the way I wanted them to against the curve of the face. After much fussing, I tossed the ears.

I did really like the circular spirals that I made, though, so I decided to press forward with those alone.

In fact, I was inspired then to make an extra-large tray to display some of my smaller quilled items.

This one is about eight inches in diameter! I initially bent up the sides so that it looked like a bowl, but I didn't love the way it looked, so I flattened it out and added an edge like the smaller trinket trays.

It looked a bit busy, so I painted the inside with a light coat of silver.

Much better! And, maybe I will try a (small) cat face again someday!
