Chameleon

Quite some time ago, I drew a chameleon with the intention of quilling it. The picture that I used as inspiration was one that I took at the Cleveland Botanical Gardens in March 2014. So, I probably sketched it out at least a decade ago.

Rather than paint the background, I decided to use torn scrapbook paper.

After a lot of back and forth, I decided to also cover the branch in scrapbook paper.

Once the background was complete, I began to quill the chameleon! I started with an outline and used a grape roll shape for the eye. I tapered the paper used for the tail to add to the effect that it is behind the branch.

I used multiple colors of paper in each coil to create the color blending effect on the chameleon.

Once I finished with the chameleon, I added some quilled accents on the branch

 and also in the clouds.

I think this little guy blends in pretty well with his surroundings!
