Hugs

I've recently come across pocket hugs. These are tiny items that a person can keep with them, usually given by someone who wants them to know they care. I love this idea and thought it would be fun to make some pocket hugs for the craft sale later this year.

I want the hugs to actually be able to withstand being carried in a pocket, so I started with a plan to make laminated cards, about the size of a business card, with fun sayings and attach a quilled piece, that's been coated in modpodge, to each. While those looked great, I quickly found that I had no good way to get the quilling to stay. Even with superglue, the quilled pieces came off easily.

After a lot of brainstorming and some trial and error, I decided to quill tight coils for the base of the hugs. Then modpodge those and also use modpodge to attach the decorative piece on top.

And of course, I wanted to keep the affirmation/saying as part of the pocket hugs as well, so I printed the sayings in tiny fonts so that I was able to cut them into 1/8" strips, which I wrapped around the coin-shaped base.

❤ A heart from me to you, filled with lots of love and big hugs, too ❤
