I've had an idea playing in my head for a new quillography piece for a while. I think I've had my original sketch for at least 6 years. Since I've been on a roll I decided now was the time.
This quillography design says "home" with the "o" replaced with the outline of Ohio. Originally, I used capital letters in a block text, but when I began to work on it this time, I chose to go with cursive.
I found a font I liked and traced that to get the placement for my letters, which I created with a red and a white strip glued together.
I included a red carnation, Ohio's state flower, quilled with 1/8" paper strips, so it would sit back from the 5mm text.
I chose to paint a wooden frame that I had on hand, so the eye is drawn into the text, rather than to the brightness of the color of the frame.
