Fringes and Swirls

I have been making more flowers again, and when I got out my fringer this time, I realized I still haven't shared the very first piece on which I used fringed flowers.

I made this early on when I first started quilling.

I checked the date on the original pictures I had taken of it to see when I quilled it, and it was in February 2011; nearly ten years ago!

I can hardly believe it's been so long.
I remember having fun with the free-flowing nature of this piece.

The combination of the fringes and swirls makes this one of my favorites!

UPDATE! While preparing for the 2023 Solon Fall Festival, I decided to reframe this piece to use the frame for something new.

When I unframed it, I found that the background had become quite discolored.

I cut off the part that had been hidden behind the frame, and to lighten it up a bit again, I put it on a blue background.

Then, I reframed it!

UPDATE! March 2024 Since I wasn't quite happy with the reframing, I came up with another solution while framing a different piece. Paint! I went with a navy blue to ensure the background didn't appear too dark.

I also took out an extra piece of cardboard that was in the back of the frame to give the fringed flowers more room to spread out.
