Dinosaur in My House

My son is 6 years old and his favorite dinosaur is the Ankylosaurus. It has been his favorite for at least three years. So with some time on my hands this week, I decided to make him one.

This little Ankylosaurus is part of an adventure! Scroll down for a peek at the book, There's a Dinosaur in My House.

started with a sketch based on various pictorial interpretations of the Ankylosaurus.

The end of the tail is made with traditional quilling shapes.

The body is created with folded paper strips.

The feet, armor, and face are more traditional shapes.

In addition to simply being a dinosaur, it turns out that an Ankylosaurus of this size makes an excellent mustache. 😉

One afternoon, E was pretending to be an angry ankylosaurus.

I wrote down his story, and E loved reading it with me, so I made it into a book for him. Here are some pictures from There's a Dinosaur in My House!

UPDATE 2026
I've framed the angry ankylosaurus! I secured the dino on half-inch coils, so that it is lifted from the background, giving the appearance that it is walking along.
